Millar’s Movieworld: Huck Optioned

The movies love Mark Millar.  Fox are developing Kingsman 2, Nemesis is  at Warner Bros., and now Millar’s latest comic, Huck, has been optioned by Studio 8. Before the first issue from Image sees the light of day. Millar  describes Huck, co-created with artist Rafael Albuquerque,  as “Captain America meets Forest Gump.” The series focuses on Huck’s attempts to use his superpowers for good in his hometown, before the world learns he exists. This sounds like a riff on Superman, and with the original mired in the black sucking pit that is ‘grim ‘n’ gritty’, may well be a huge success at the cinema. Anyone for a Promethea film? Down at the back, Moore.

Mark Millar: No wonder this man looks happy!

In addition to Millar’s original properties, Marvel Studios is using Civil War as the basis of Captain America: Civil War, and rumour is that Fox is using Millar and McNiven’s “Old Man Logan” storyline for the third Wolverine movie.

Mark Millar already has adaptations for Wanted, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Kick-Ass. Now Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 is looking for writers and directors to adapt Huck for the screen.

The first issue of Huck is out on Wednesday, November 18.
