The Omens Are Very Good For Pratchett and Gaiman’s Good Omens Campaign

The official comic adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s infamous novel Good Omens has launched via Kickstarter. The project, which runs across August 2023, offers fans the opportunity to immortalise themselves within the project’s pages alongside Aziraphale and Crowley and get their hands on the final available edition of the incredibly rare Celestial edition of Good Omens, amid an exciting array of new items on offer. The project hit its £25,000 target within 10 minutes

Adapted by the Eisner award-winning Colleen Doran, the story follows the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley as they attempt to avoid the impending Apocalypse on the horizon. There’s also the small matter of a missing Antichrist…

The blockbuster campaign brings together a collection of artists to further revel in the world of Good Omens, with tiers including a variant cover by Frank Quitely (Judge Dredd, Batman) as well as the launch of the new trading cards, with work from creators including Paul Kidby, official artist of the Discworld series, and more. Stretch goals will not only unlock additional production flourishes to Aziraphale and Crowley’s tale, but exclusive prints from Alice Oseman (Heartstopper) and Sarah Graley (Our Super Adventure), with more to be unveiled.

Neil Gaiman said about collaborating with Colleen Doran:”I’ve been working with Colleen Doran for almost 35 years and have loved her art and storytelling for longer than that. We are so lucky to have her genius bringing Good Omens to a whole new audience. Terry would have been so happy.”

Rob Wilkins said: “I only wish Terry could have been here to join Neil and Colleen in collaboration on this project: he would have loved every second. But in his absence an incredible job has been done, and we have a book that we’re proud and excited to bring to Good Omens fans and new readers alike.”

Colleen Doran commented on working on the graphic novel:” Nothing has given me greater pleasure, or been a greater honour, than to be chosen to adapt the beloved novel Good Omens for Neil Gaiman and the Terry Pratchett estate. I love the book just as much as you all do, and I have endeavoured to bring you a faithful adaptation that I also hope brings some liveliness of the graphic novel medium to the work.”

The graphic novel is the latest adaptation of the 1990 novel, alongside the BBC Radio adaptation and Amazon Prime’s second season, which released in full on 28 July. It is being released via Dunmanifestin, the publishing arm of the Terry Pratchett Estate.

Fans can pre-order the ineffable graphic novel via Kickstarter. It will publish in Summer 2024.
