How the Visual Magic is Made

Tripwire currently has an exciting Kickstarter online.  It is for our very first standalone graphic novel that is also full of fascinating extra features as well.

The project is called Death Be Praised. It is written by Tripwire’s frequent contributing journalist Paul Neal with award winning interior art from award-winning artist Rob Moran.

Covers are provided by Rob Moran, Fraser Irving, Andrew Sawyers and Lyndon Webb.

The incredibly talented and artist Lyndon Webb has provided one of the four covers available for Death Be Praised.

Webb was generous enough to provide a few development images and few thoughts that made the creation of his cover a reality.

WEBB: I provided quite a detailed sketch for approval, then inked the linework over the top. Just wanted a strong cover with a character that wasn’t on the primary cover by Rob Moran.

WEBB: Completed linework. Irises and pupils left blank to do later in Photoshop. I do this when I can, so the eyes aren’t ‘off’.

WEBB: Blacks filled in and any extra details added. Eyes added in PS. Any tidying of stray pencils left over after scanning done at this stage.

WEBB: Because the skin is the predominant colour, I do this in one go, adding textures and contrasts.

WEBB: Three more layers, eyes, moustache and hair. It wasn’t fully working so I duplicated the black layer and sprayed red with a custom brush until I got the desired effect
