New John Wick Films Unveiled And Spider-Man Release Dates Drops At Cinema Con This Week

This year’s Cinema Con just happened and there’s quite a lot of news from it so here’s a few snippets courtesy of the Cineworld website…
Lionsgate made their presentation on Tuesday, and they dropped news of three new John Wick movies: John Wick 5, an animated prequel and a spin-off film centred around Caine, the character played by Donnie Yen in John Wick 4.
Speaking about the animated prequel – which will be directed by Shannon Tindle (The Emoji Movie) and see the iconic hitman trying to complete the Impossible Task of killing all his enemies in one night – Lionsgate boss Adam Fogelson said: “In both animation and the world of John Wick, the possibilities are endless. And there is no John Wick story fans are clamouring for more than the Impossible Task. Shannon’s take on that story is an incredible one, and we are beyond excited to see what John Wick can do in animation.”
During Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon, it was announced that a new Spider-Man movie is on its way – and it has a name. The fourth film in the Marvel franchise is due to come out on July 31st 2026, and will be called Spider-Man: Brand New Day. By the sound of it, that title alludes to the fact that the new movie represents a new beginning for the web-slinging hero. As Tom Holland said in a pre-recorded message: “I know we left you with a massive cliff hanger at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, so Spider Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
Also during Sony’s CinemaCon presentation, the company revealed that the final film in the Spider-Verse series has been earmarked for a 4 June 2027 release. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally meant to land in 2024, but, speaking at the Las Vegas showcase, producer Phil Lord and co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K Thompson, claimed that there’s a good reason for the delay. “We decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right,” Variety reported them as saying.
Sharing a trailer with the assembled throng, Lord revealed that this third movie in the Spider-Verse franchise will be “a massive finale to the trilogy” as Miles Morales, now exiled from the multiverse, makes a desperate attempt to return.
“We are prepping this movie especially for your large format screens,” Lord teased. “It looks insane.”
It’s been two years since the release of the second film in the series, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, with the first instalment, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, coming out in 2018.
