Tom Hiddleston Talks Thor Ragnarok And More
Third Thor May Be Last Outing For Loki Onscreen
♦Over at movieweb, Tom Hiddleston spoke about the third Thor movie, Ragnarok and how this could be Loki’s swansong and gave a few snippets about the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe…
“Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years. I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate,’ Hiddleston told the Daily Beast.
Back in January, Mark Ruffalo revealed that Hulk‘s story arc in Thor: Ragnarok will connect to Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II, which starts shooting towards the end of 2016, under the direction of Anthony Russo and Joe Russo. Does Tom Hiddleston‘s statement mean that he won’t be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II? Here’s what the actor had to say.
“I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”
Given the level of secrecy swirling around Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II, it’s possible the actor is playing coy with the press, not wanting to spoil a potential surprise appearance in Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II. As for Thor: Ragnarok, the actor also spoke with Yahoo! Movies, where he hinted at the possibility of Cate Blanchett joining the cast. The actress is reportedly playing the female lead Hela.
“That would be extraordinary. I don’t know if she’s definitely doing it, but obviously she’s an extraordinary actress. If she’s up for coming to Asgard, that would be interesting. [Ragnarok] is coming around. I saw Chris Hemsworth in Australia. He lives about an hour away from where we were shooting Kong: Skull Island, and he was full of beans about Thor 3.”
Tom Hiddleston also recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where he spoke about the movie that will kick off Phase Three, Captain America: Civil War. While the actor’s character Loki doesn’t have a role in the movie, he talked about watching the entire MCU progress over the years. Here’s what he had to say.
“I really enjoy watching it progress in a way. I saw the trailer for Civil War, and I was like ‘Wow’…it has come to this.’ I feel like if Loki was in Civil War, he’d be sitting on the rooftops somewhere going, ‘How marvelous… the children are fighting.’ I’m excited to see it.”
He also added that Loki wouldn’t side with Cap or Iron Man, since they were both “fairly unkind” to him in Marvel’s The Avengers. One of Tom Hiddleston‘s old friends will also be joining the MCU later this year, Benedict Cumberbatch, who is portraying the title character in Doctor Strange, arriving in theaters November 4. Here’s what Tom Hiddleston had to say about the advice he gave Benedict Cumberbatch before he took the role.
“He called before he did Doctor Strange. Of course, it has its own challenges which are mostly the sustained stamina of imagination because you’re constantly having to generate responses to things that aren’t physically there in environments which will be enhanced by visual effects. The job is to continue to make it real so the audience believes it when they see it. I think he’s having fun, and what a cast!”
