Filming has wrapped on the UK-based shoot for Marvel’s behemoth Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Director Scott Derrickson confirmed the end-of-shoot news on Twitter as filming wound up in New York City over the weekend.

For the last four months, the film has had its production base at Longcross Studios here in the UK, but has also taken in far-flung locations such as Kathmandu and Hong Kong.

Cumberbatch is moving swiftly on to filming the fourth series of Sherlock, which begins shooting in London and south Wales this week. We have a comprehensive round-up of crucial HoDs on Production Intelligence.

Sherlock shoots for four months, after which the actor will be busy preparing The War Magician, in which he stars as Jasper Maskelyne, a world-famous magician whose ingenious illusions aided the Allied fight against the Nazis during the Second World War.

The feature comes from SunnyMarch, the production company founded by Cumberbatch along with Adam Ackland, Adam Selves and Ben Dillon a few years ago.
