Exploring The Stunning Filming Locations Of Netflix’s Lift
Giving A Lift
Lift is an action-comedy on Netflix, that was released in 2024. The movie, which stars Kevin Hart, follows a team of thieves who plan a heist to steal a shipment of gold. Hart leads a diverse team of experts, as they try and pull off one of their biggest heists to date. They plan to outsmart a high-level security system but as they attempt to pull this off, they are faced with several unexpected and challenging issues…
Primary Locations Featured in Lift
Several scenes in Lift were shot across a range of different countries. Some scenes were shot in Italy, specifically Trieste. The historic Miramare Castle helped to add elegance and grandeur to the high-stakes backdrop, and it also helped to give the scenes being shot more visual interest. There were also a number of scenes filmed at Harbour Studios in Belfast. This is a versatile venue that has hosted a lot of big productions in the past. Shepperton Studios was another location used, with many indoor scenes filmed there, including the vault scene. As vaults serve as a symbolic and literal fortress for wealth, an intricate set design was required to achieve the desired result.
Interestingly, the allure of vaults carries over to other genres too, with games in particular using impressive vault designs to try and recreate the action seen in vault break-ins across several blockbuster movies. The Action Bank slot game is just one example here, set against a backdrop of vaults and safes. There are also several bonus features that can lead to significant wins, with chances to play for the Ruby, Diamond, and Sapphire multiplier. When you look across mediums, it’s safe to say that vaults are seen as a symbol of challenge and reward, which is why for Lift, it was really important to get the scene right, so that they could effectively replicate a heist setting that resonated with the audience.
Exploring Other Filming Locations
Other filming locations included Venice, with iconic shots captured at the Rialto Bridge and Doge’s Palace. The Grand Canal was also used, with producers utilising the Venetian Lagoon when showing their heist’s intricate planning. With the Miramare Castle having stunning views of the Adriatic Sea, this contributed to the regal background you see in some of the more pivotal moments of the movie. That’s not all though, as some scenes were also filmed in London. The Embassy Gardens Sky Pool, which can be found in Nine Elms, helped to show modern architecture and a rich aesthetic, perfect for some of the key moments in the movie. Diverse locations like this helped the movie to replicate an engaging experience, with a high-stakes narrative.
With the movie being a huge success for Netflix, it just goes to show that in some movies, filming locations do have a huge influence on the general reception of a movie.
