Capital Crime Draws To A Close After Most Successful Festival Yet

2023’s Capital Crime drew to a close on Saturday 2nd September, after a star-studded three days of panels, events and launches with over 100 leading voices from crime fiction in a brand-new central London venue. Festival co-founder David Headley hailed the festival as ‘the most successful yet’, celebrating the record book sales and the fantastic audience attendance.…

Festival highlights included:

• The Fingerprint Awards on Thursday, which saw authors including Erin Kelly and Adele Parks celebrated; Quercus’s Fiction Publisher Jane Wood awarded the Thalia Proctor Lifetime Achievement Award; and Viking win the Publishing Campaign of the Year for Richard Osman’s The Bullet that Missed.
• Festival co-founder David Headley interviewed literary legend Kate Atkinson.
• Actor Richard Armitage interviewed by Imran Mahmood, in his first event for his forthcoming, and already well-received debut novel Geneva.
• Richard Osman discussed his sensational Thursday Murder Club series with comedian Miles Jupp in a sold out event.
• Dorothy Koomson and Louise Candlish discussing the many untrustworthy married couples they’ve created over their impressive careers.

Capital Crime co-founder and Goldsboro Books managing director David Headley said:

“It’s hard to believe that this is only our third festival. However, it’s definitely our most successful yet – and I’m delighted that we’ve found a new home in the Royal Leonardo Hotel. I’m so proud of the brilliant programme, and I loved every minute of this last weekend. We’ve celebrated authors at all stages of their careers, from the brilliant debut crime writers to our stratospheric headliner Richard Osman, who spoke to a sold out audience! I’m exhausted, but exhilarated and I can’t wait to do it all again in early summer next year.”

Capital Crime Festival Director, Lizzie Curle, said:

From Paul Clayton’s riotous debut panel and the Fingerprint Awards to seeing actor and now author Richard Armitage chatting with the brilliant Imran Mahmood in his first appearance for his exceptional debut thriller Geneva, it was three days of thought-provoking, inspiring and often very funny conversations. Headley also announced that Early Bird weekend tickets are on sale for Capital Crime 2024, which will be returning to the Royal Leonardo Hotel at the earlier time in the year, from 30^th May-1^st June 2024.
