30 Days: A Longpig Tale, Kickstarter Launches On 27th May

After the success of the first Longpig miniseries the creative team recently announced the launch of a new original horror/western tale from the dark history of Longpig.

A stand-alone horror/western tale from Longpig history. Expect cowboys, injuns and cannibalism. Written by Grayham Puttock and illustrated by Adam Jakes. Essential reading for existing fans of the Longpig comic series and the perfect jumping-on point for new readers. Tripwire contributing writer Paul N Neal reached out to writer Grayham Puttock to find out a bit more.

TRIPWIRE: The first Longpig series was a great success. For the uninitiated can you describe the Longpig universe?

GRAYHAM PUTTOCK: Longpig is a character-driven horror, centred around the Stanleys, a family of cannibals in modern-day America. They are in all other outward respects a normal family, with everyday grievances and concerns but hiding a brutal and monstrous secret.

TW: 30 Days would appear to be a prequel of sorts to the original miniseries, but also a jumping-on point for new readers.  How important is it to be familiar with what has come before to enjoy this new title?

GP: 30 Days is a standalone tale set in the Old West which, although it further explores the themes of the main series, can be enjoyed as an entirely separate experience. That said, there are a couple of ‘easter eggs’ for regular readers.

TW: I dare say more details will emerge, but can you tease any Kickstarter bonuses fans may expect?

GP: We have a few Stretch Goal ideas that we are keeping under wraps for now, but the greatest attraction has to be the opportunity to pick up original Adam Jakes artwork at a terrific price exclusive to this Kickstarter. Every page of 30 Days is available, and they are stunning.

TW: In three or four sentences can you say why comic fans should buy this new Longpig prequel? Essentially this is an opportunity to shamelessly promote your new project.

GP: 30 Days: A Longpig Tale is pure, punchy, thrilling entertainment. Like Tales From The Crypt through the lens of Cormac McCarthy. Beautifully illustrated and written with delicious dark wit.

TW: Do you have a potential release date pencilled in for when 30 Days may be released and in fans hands?

GP: Hoping for a successful KS, the funds should clear by late June, so early July is the intention.

TW: Finally, Grayham, do you have anything else you are working on for 2025? Is there a collected edition of the original Longpig on the horizon for example?

GP: A collected Longpig is very much on our minds. It would be a beautiful thing but very expensive to produce, so we are brainstorming ways to do that. Meanwhile, Adam and I are working on a full-length original tale that will absolutely blow people’s minds, and I have another graphic novel of my own underway, a near-future thriller which is like Get Carter meets Edge of Darkness.
