Review: Deathstroke The Terminator: Assassins
MERCENARY BEHAVIOUR
Day twenty-four of the GN review a day here on Tripwire and it’s Deathstroke The Terminator: Assassins by Marv Wolfman, Steve Erwin & Will Blyberg. Deathstroke first appeared in New Teen Titans back in the 1980s and they gave him his own book in the early nineties. This collection reprints the first nine issues of his own series plus New Titans 70. Thanks to the character appearing in the Arrow TV series, it’s had a bit of a boost in profile. Deathstroke is an assassin who was experimented upon by the US government and now he is a gun for hire. It’s pretty perfunctory stuff, like DC’s version of Marvel’s The Punisher, and there’s not a great deal to the stories, which are basically extended fight scenes. Wolfman does know how to tell a story though and they pass the time pleasantly enough, with a Batman cameo thrown in. So not exactly earth-shattering but there are worse ways to spend a little time…
