Where To Next for The Walking Dead?
Grimes And Michonne Will Walk Again
Fans of The Walking Dead might have been worried that the release of the final episode in the current series would spell an end to their beloved franchise. Season eleven, part three, was released on AMC on 22 October. They will be relieved to hear that a limited series will air in 2023 when he and Michonne will walk again…
It is twelve years since Rick Grimes first graced our screens on 31st October 2010. At San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, the zombie show held a panel and provided a roadmap for Rick’s future. The series is still untitled, but it will consist of six episodes and will see Andrew Lincoln’s character reunited with his long-lost love Michonne. Michonne will be played by Danai Gurira.
Limited series or continuing season?
The lead pair will be executive producers on this new, limited series. Entertainment Weekly has rumoured that the six episodes are not a limited series but the first season of a continuing season. This has not yet been confirmed. Chief content editor for The Walking Dead, Scott Gimple, said,
“Rick and Michonne are two of my favourite people, and Danai and Andy are two of my favourite people. Working with all of them continues to be a dream come true. The three of us, along with a terrific team of TWD all stars and incredible new voices, are crafting an insane love epic worth the long, long wait.”
Proposed Storyline
The official logline talks of a new dramatic adventure for Rick and Michonne. It says that we will see an epic love story, a tale of two characters who are changed by a changed world. It goes on to say that the pair are,
“Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive – or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”
The Walking Dead everywhere
The Walking Dead has been a phenomenal success. Who could possibly have known that there would be so much life in zombies and the undead? While the movie might have been killed off, numerous other spin-offs are being promised, plus a raft of gaming opportunities for fans. As well as video games over the years, the franchise has also collaborated with Playtech, which has created not one but two Walking Dead slot games. The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead 2 games can be played on some of the best slots sites by online-slot.co.uk, like Casumo. Reviewers claim that the second one is even better than the original. This is similar to what critics and fans have said about the TV shows.
Mass Participation Event
There are also opportunities for people who like to immerse themselves in The Walking Dead fully. Earlier in the year, Skybound Games launched a mass participation event in collaboration with Facebook Gaming. The Walking Dead: Last Mile is an interactive experience blending the TV show with a game to create a serialised sim. It takes participants around The Walking Dead universe in a way that has not been seen before. The project features all-new characters and stories. Players are in control of the walkers and have to create their own avatars. They enter previously unexplored zones of The Walking Dead Universe.

French Spin-Off
Meanwhile, Norman Reedus is in France working on a production of a Daryl Dixon spin-off. It is a follow-up story from The Walking Dead: World Beyond when a scientist in an abandoned lab was shot after watching videos about tests being done on various walkers. The action taking place in Europe, rather than the US, opens up a whole new raft of possibilities. However, no date has yet been confirmed for the release.
