The Mightiest Mortal will be descending upon Canada, as it’s Lights! Camera! Action! on the set for Shazam! heading into production in Toronto’s Pinewood Studios.
It’s a greenlight for Shazam! the live-action feature length film is steeped into pre-production as multiple casting reports come in and the roster of talent to step into the world of the World’s Mightiest Mortal begins to take shape. It had been widely reported that Duane “The Rock” Johnson has been linked to the role of anti-hero Black Adam and was set to go toe-to-toe against Zachary Levi who has been cast as the film’s star, though recent reports suggest that Johnson will instead headline his own film as Black Adam.
The film is scheduled to go full-tilt into production as early as February 2018 setting up the backdrop of Fawcett City in the heart of Canada’s Pinewood Toronto Studios. Shazam! is slated to be directed by David Sanberg and reportedly will also star The Walking Dead cast member Cooper Andrews as well as Asher Angel who will be playing Billy Batson.
Additional cast announcement include Mark Strong who is in talks to bring the Big Red Cheese’s nemesis Dr. Sivana to life on the screen. In “The New 52” mythology Sivana is a much more formidable opponent imbued with a taste of the mystic power of the ancient wizard that gives Billy Batson his superpowers and is able to transform into Shazam!
