Preacher Comes To Amazon Prime

♦AMC’s adaptation of Ennis and Dillon’s Vertigo series Preacher starts this Sunday and according to Variety, viewers in UK, Japan and Germany will be able to catch it on Amazon Prime…

Amazon Prime has grabbed streaming rights to AMC’s darkly comedic drama Preacher for UK, Austria, Germany and Japan.

Members of the service will be able to watch the program from 23 May, with subsequent episodes launching on Mondays from 6 June, only one day after the show is shown on AMC in the U.S.

Produced by Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg (Superbad, Bad Neighbours) and show runner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) and based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic book, “Preacher” is a supernatural drama that follows a west Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power.

Dominic Cooper stars alongside Ruth Negga and Joseph Gilgun.

Deal was negotiated with Sony Pictures Television for Amazon Prime Video in the U.K., Austria, Germany and Japan.

Preacher is one of the most ambitious and highly-anticipated new series of the year and exactly the kind of show we want to bring to our Prime members around the world,” said Brad Beale, vice president of worldwide television acquisition for Amazon. “Sitting alongside shows like ‘The Man in the High Castle,’ ‘Transparent,’ ‘Mr Robot,’ ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ and the upcoming Clarkson, Hammond and May show, ‘The Grand Tour, Preacher is another great addition to our line-up and we think our customers are going to love it.”
