The Scene That Nearly Got Cut In Prime’s Good Omens
Needing A Rewrite
Amazon Prime’s adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s book Good Omens was a big hit last year on Prime and on BBC. But there was a scene that nearly didn’t survive shooting. Here’s a few details from Prime…
The Good Omens crew had, for the first time in history, received permission to film at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. The scene was originally supposed to be the successful first week of Hamlet, with over 500 extras in costume, but the Good Omen’s team were only given 5 hours to film. They realised it was impossible to shoot, and so Douglas Mackinnon and Neil Gaiman rewrote the entire scene and both agree it’s one of the best scenes in the series.
