Father Knows Best?

According to our friends over at comicbook.com, Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman has been cast as Oswald Cobblepot’s father in Gotham.

We knew Paul Reubens, best known for his role as the iconic Pee Wee Herman, had been cast – or is it re-cast? – as Penguin’s father for Gotham. Interestingly it’s a role he played once before, in 1992’s Batman Returns. Today, executive producer Danny Cannon gave fans their first look at him (back) in character, along with his TV son, played by Robin Lord Taylor.

Cobblepot is in desperate need of a parental figure on Gotham, after his mother was bumped off towards the end of the first half of the season, by Theo “Dumas” Galavan. What role his dad will play in that story is unclear, but from this image it looks like Penguin may have gotten his more vengeful side from his paternal parent.

While we don’t know exactly when Penguin’s Papa will show up, Gotham returns 29 February 2016, so we can expect him soon after. Here is the photo that producer Danny Cannon stuck up on Twitter.
