Iron Fist Gets a Showrunner
Scott Buck Gets Attached to Marvel’s Latest Show
According to an article on Deadline, Marvel has now confirmed Scott Buck as Iron Fist‘s showrunner.
“Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television. “We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”
Buck was also quoted, calling Danny Rand the kind of “complex, intriguing characters” he’s always been drawn to.
The synopsis does sound remarkably similar to Arrow:
“Returning to New York City after being missing for four years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”
Scott Buck has worked as a writer/producer on numerous shows including Dexter and Six Feet Under. No release date has been given as yet for Iron Fist. Netflix recently premiered Jessica Jones, and is currently filming Luke Cage and the second season of Daredevil for a 2016 debut.
