We are always happy to help support comic kickstarter and crowdfunding campaigns and Geezer by Cud’s William Potter and Philip Bond about the greatest Britpop band you’ve never heard of looks like a lot of fun so here’s a few details on it…

Martin Bland was in the right place in the wrong trousers, pouting in polyester when Suede were all the rage, sipping shandies as Oasis rattled Blur at Camden’s Good Mixer, touring the States with rival band Clobber, sexing up The Word, and hobnobbing with Tony Blair at Number 10. You must have blinked and missed him!

Follow the missteps of Martin Bland as he embarks on a make-or-break mission to become a cheeky-chap chart topper and style icon. If only he had the breaks, the talent, and the cheekbones…

Colliding with the famous, or face down on the pavement, wannabe Britpop star Bland and Geezer, his loyal band of underachievers, struggle against the odds in this comic-book tale of the also-ran. Geezer parallels the ups and downs of the early ‘90s British music scene, dips into real events with pathos and playfulness. Geezer will make you spit out your lager with its gags and break your heart with its lust for life and crushed ambition.

This collectible 36-page comic book is presented in a 7”-square format to match a vinyl single.

The first of what we hope to be many adventures for Geezer in the Nineties, this complete debut story is backed up with period memorabilia, including posters, lyrics, ads and live reviews.

Writer WILLIAM POTTER was and is also the bass player for CUD, a Top 40 UK indie-pop band that collided with the Britpop scene in the early 90s. Following his collaboration with Philip Bond on the semi-autographical CUD: Rich and Strange strip for Black Crown Quarterly, he has used his mixed experiences in the music biz as inspiration for this tale of a cheeky chart chancer dipping into real events from the Britpop period.

Artist PHILIP BOND is a long-suffering comic artist with credits including Kill Your Boyfriend, Eve Stranger, and of course CUD: Rich and Strange with the aforementioned Potter. While his black and white ink drawings have proved popular across his Instagram feed and two Kickstarter collections, Geezer marks Philip’s triumphant return to sequential comics.
