Leo DiCaprio Brings Robin Hood Origin

New Robin Hood Heading to the UK

According to trade TV and film news site theknowledgeonline.com, an origins story of the legendary Robin Hood is heading to film in the UK next summer.

Leonardo DiCaprio is wearing the executive producer’s hat for Robin Hood: Origins, which comes from his LA-based production company, Appian Way, and Safehouse Pictures.

Kingsman star Taron Egerton is lined up to star as the altruistic outlaw, with Bridge of Spies star Eve Hewson reportedly playing Maid Marian.

Egerton is due to shoot Kingsman 2 first, with the gritty take on the Nottingham Forest tale to follow in the summer of 2016, all being well.

Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst is calling the shots from a screenplay by Joby Harold; the latter also produces with his Safehouse Pictures partner Tory Tunnell.

Harold is an experienced author when it comes to Hollywood reimaginings of ancient English folk tales, with Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur among his many recent credits.
