Harry Potter And The Cursed Child West End Play Casts Adult Harry, Hermione & Ron

Harry Potter and The Deathly Touts Anyone?

According to our friends at deadline.com, the three actors who will lead Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, the West End play that’s been referred to as the eighth part of the series, have been revealed in London. Stage veterans each, they will play older versions of the Boy Wizard, and his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. In order, the actors are Jamie Parker,Noma Dumezweni and Paul Thornley. When we last saw the trio, at the end of Deathly Hallows Part 2, they were adults who were seeing off their kids to Hogwarts from King’s Cross’ Platform 9 3/4.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, will pick up from there.

Parker is currently playing Sky Masterson in Guys And Dolls at the Savoy Theatre, and has such English stage credits as Seagulls, High Society, Proof, Candida, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Henry V, As You Like It, The History Boys, and Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead. His film credits include The Lady In The Van, Le Weekend,Valkyrie and the screen transfer of The History Boys. On TV, he’s been seen in The Hour, Silent Witness, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and more.

Dumezweni, an Olivier Award-winning stage veteran, has been cast as Hermione. She is currently on stage in the title role of Linda at the Royal Court Theatre after replacing Kim Cattrall shortly before the show began, and receiving raves. Dumezweni’s other major credits inlcude A Raisin In The Sun (for which she won the Supporting Actress Olivier), Carmen Disruption, ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore, Henry V,Macbeth, The Winter’s Tale, and Romeo And Juliet. Her film credits include Dirty Pretty Things and Macbeth; with TV work in Dr Who, EastEnders and more. Dumezweni will make her directing debut at the Royal Court Theatre in February with I See You.
