Does The Popularity Of Irish Themes In Slots Suggest That An R-Rated Irish MCU Offering Would Be a Hit?
Head To The Emerald Isle
In terms of entertainment, slots are among the most popular games on a global scale. Developers in other media look to these titles to see what’s popular when deciding on what they should make next. At online casinos, one of the most prevalent themes is Ireland or, more specifically, the famous symbols associated with the Emerald Isle…
With these games being so well-loved, it’s surprising that the ideas within them haven’t been replicated much in Hollywood. The MCU could rectify this by creating a standalone Deadpool-style film about the Irish superhero, Shamrock.
Slots Like Rainbow Riches are Hugely Popular
In lists of slot games, Irish iconography stands out wherever you look. One of the latest offerings is Rainbow Riches Reels of Gold, a recent upgrade on the long-running Rainbow Riches franchise. The title from SG Interactive uses the Colossal Reels game engine, a brand-new feature that involves an additional playing grid on the righthand side that is activated during bonus games.
The Irish-themed title features numerous classic symbols associated with the country such as pots of gold, shamrocks, and rainbows. There’s also a magical feel to the gameplay. Players seem to enjoy these themes based around luck. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume they’d want to watch films featuring lucky superheroes as well.
Shamrock Could Be Great in a Standalone Offering
After the success of Deadpool, Marvel Studios may be interested in expanding its R-rated offerings that exist on the fringes of the main MCU series. In Deadpool 2, Domino, a superhero with the power of luck, was introduced. The character played by Zazie Beetz was one of the highlights of the sequel and is likely to appear in any upcoming Deadpool titles. Therefore, it seems unlikely that she’ll get her own movie yet.
Shamrock is a similar character to Domino and many of her skills rely on luck. On top of that, she has other abilities such as the power to manifest fallen war heroes who aid her in battle. Like Deadpool, Shamrock stories are a bit darker and grittier, and bringing her to screen would be best achieved in an R-rated offering where there are no restrictions on what can be shown.
Daredevil is the Other Famous Irish Hero
Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, was famously of Irish heritage, but now his role in the MCU has come to an end. That means the universe really needs another Irish superhero. The other famous character with heritage from the country is Matt Murdoch, better known as the blind crime fighter, Daredevil.
Charlie Cox has most recently played the lawyer in the Daredevil series, and he reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It seems that he is being reintegrated into the Marvel universe, however, it’s currently unknown as to whether he’ll mainly be in the big or small screen titles.
It’s about time that Shamrock made an appearance in the MCU, and the popularity of Irish themes in slots suggests that she’d be a massive hit. Her story would be best covered in an R-rated film, so that it can show the dark themes linked with the character.
