Tripwire: A Look Back At 2024 And Ahead To 2025

Big Plans Ahead

2024 was another big year for Tripwire, both in print and online so as ever, it’s always interesting to look back on another year and also to talk about what we have planned for the coming year…

In 2024 wen did a lot:

•In January, we published our latest print edition, the Spring 2024 edition, with our exclusive Doctor Who cover by Jeff Carlisle, our #61st print edition.

•In the same month, we brought out the two different cover versions of Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders The Gene Genie Volume 1 in hardcover. As our first graphic novel, this was a very proud moment for us.

•In April, we ran our latest Kickstarter to fund Face To Face: Creative Portraits, our first photo book through Tripwire, which hit 257 per cent of its target and which we published in November this year.

•In August we published our second print edition, the Summer 2024 edition, with our Sean Phillips Criminal cover for the direct market and our Sean Phillips montage cover for our Kickstarter campaign. The issue featured two exclusive interviews, one with Sean Phillips and one with Ed Brubaker on their 25 years of working together.

•In November, we launched our second Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders The Gene Genie campaign to fund a paperback of Volume One plus two brand new hardcover editions of Volume Two and a Volume Two paperback. We commissioned two new covers from Dan Panosian (Conan, Nightwing) and Frazer Irving (Batman, 2000AD). •We have continued to post original content on the website as well as run things like film, comics and TV news and trailers. Articles like the right way to draw Judge Dredd’s helmet and how to draw Batman’s cowl properly from professional comic artists by contributing writer Paul Neal have cemented and increased our audience.

•We have added to the Tripwire YouTube channel too with lots of new content over the year including red carpet interviews, clips and trailers. Here’s that link https://www.youtube.com/@JoelMeadowsTripwireMagazine/videos

So it’s been another very strong year but again we aren’t resting on our laurels:

•The first thing out the gates is our Spring 2025 edition with our celebration of Daredevil’s 60th anniversary and David Mack cover.

•In February, our first Art Of book spotlighting acclaimed comic artist and illustrator George Pratt (Batman, Enemy Ace, Wolverine) will launch the middle of February on Kickstarter. This will be the first in a series of Art Of books, in an oversized hardcover format.

•In May or June, the second Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders The Gene Genie will be back from the printers in all if its formats.

•August will see a second print edition of the magazine too.

•We are also looking at other ways of offering the print magazine in digital format too.

We shall also be looking at continuing to work and collaborate with companies who have helped and supported us over the past year and before that. Companies like Mad Cave Studios, Dark Horse Comics, CGC and others.
