…And A Look Forward At 2024

Tripwire’s editor-in-chief Joel Meadows takes a look back at the past year and a look forward to next for Tripwire…
2023 has been a fairly decent year for Tripwire:

•We published two new print editions, one with an Indiana Jones cover and the other with a Sandman at 35 cover

•We built on our content and traffic for the website

•We ran our seventh crowdfunding campaign for Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders, more than doubling our target on Zoop

•Even though it isn’t out until January, we launched Tripwire Comics Presents with Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders, where we commissioned original covers from Walt Simonson and Mark Chiarello

•We did our first panel at New York Comic Con in October

•We added Lunar to our distribution network for the print magazine

•We launched and ran the fifth annual Tripwire Awards

So 2024 will see:

•four print editions as the Nov/ Dec 2023 edition has slipped a little so that will be out the second half of January. Then May will include a cover feature on Brubaker and Phillips working together for 25 years while our August and December editions are still to be decided in terms of their covers

•Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders The Gene Genie Vol 1 will be out around the middle of January with the second volume hopefully appearing in the second half of next year with covers by Kelley Jones and Dan Panosian. There will be a signing at Gosh in London on 20 Jan with myself, Barry Kitson and Frazer Irving to launch it and there are also plans to do some other show appearances in the UK and elsewhere tying in with the book

•Speaking of Holmes, from June this coming year, the book will be available to order in traditional UK bookshops through Turnaround, thanks to the efforts of our friend Steve Robson plus it will also be available to grab digitally and through print on demand through Amazon, GlobalComix and hopefully Macroverse too

•Under the Tripwire banner, Face To Face is a new photography book featuring my portrait photos of creative people which should be launching on crowdfunding sometime in February

•We intend to launch and run the sixth annual Tripwire awards

•We have taken on a media agency for Tripwire’s advertising and sponsorship opportunities which should make the running of the website and print magazine a lot smoother as I can now devote my energies to editorial and planning

So we have done quite a lot this year but as ever we don’t plan to rest on our laurels

thanks for reading and thanks for supporting Tripwire
