Pieces of remarkable movie history from the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation, celebrating the long and illustrious career of special effects and animation pioneer Ray Harryhausen, will be sold as part of Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction on Thursday 14th November 2024…

Fans will have a rare chance to own a rare piece of movie memorabilia used to create unforgettable films, such as Jason and the Argonauts (1963), Clash of the Titans (1981) and more.  Standout lots include an incredible Kali Lighting Stand-in Model by Ray Harryhausen from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973), estimated at £100,000 and £200,000 and a Lighting Stand-in Hydra Head and Neck by Ray Harryhausen from Jason and the Argonauts (1963), estimated between £25,000 and £50,000.

Harryhausen’s stop-motion work defined visual effects for a generation. Reflecting on the Kali sequence from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Harryhausen commented: “I have to confess that when faced with the animation for such a complex sequence, I would wonder why I made life so difficult for myself. It was wonderful to dream and plan such effects, but how would I make them all work? Whatever doubts I had about this sequence, today I am extremely proud of it. Everything seemed to come together. The stunts were all first-rate, and the action flows at a cracking pace.”
