Three Crowdfunding Campaigns People Should Look At As Inspiration For Their Own Campaign

Our Crowdfund Your Comic campaign has kicked off and it’s already making a little bit of momentum. So I thought I would begin an occasional column on here (probably twice a week for the next few weeks) recommending other people’s successful campaigns, asking why they did so well…

First is DRACULA VOLUME 1: THE IMPALER by Matt Wagner and Kelley Jones, which raised $262,498 when it ran in autumn 2023. Wagner and Jones are two creators with a very impressive body of work (Wagner has Mage and Grendel while Jones is well known as the artist on Batman and Sandman) and they were assisted by David Hyde at Superfan for the campaign. Dracula is also being published via a more traditional means by Dark Horse this October. Next is Cult Of The Lamb: The First Verse by Alex Paknadel and artist Troy Little, funded and published by Oni Press. The video game was a huge hit, selling one million in one week, so that was a major reason as to why it was such a big success. Finally Good Omens, which was a graphic novel adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s book by Colleen Doran made an eyewatering £2,419,973 in its campaign.
