Three years have passed since Game of Thrones ended, but it’s still one of the most talked about shows. The show has inspired animated series, west-end productions and increased the popularity of dragon-themed Platincasino slots like Dragons Awakening. The world of Westeros is abuzz with talk of prequels, sequels, and spin-offs. What can we expect? Let’s find out…

House of the Dragon

Adapted from George RR Martin’s Fire and Blood, House of Dragon will premiere in August 2022 with ten episodes starring Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy. The series takes place three hundred years before Game Of Thrones and centres around the Targaryen King Viserys I and his family at their strongest. Considering the book’s synopsis, we can expect to see several historical battles like the Targaryen civil war, a.k.a. Dance of Dragons and the Doom of Valyria. As the show’s air date is just around the corner, we don’t have too long to wait for the platinum-haired family to be back on HBO.

The Sea Snake

The Sea Snake, formally known as Nine Voyages, will tell the tale of Corlys Velaryon, an influential Westerosi lord who becomes wealthy and powerful through his travels. Due to Ten Thousand Ships, which we will discuss below, the title changed since Martin wanted to avoid having two shows with numbers in their titles. House Velaryon is one of House Targaryen’s oldest allies with platinum hair and dragon-riding abilities in A Song of Ice and Fire book. Steve Toussaint will play Corlys in House of the Dragon, but it has yet to be determined if he will reprise his role in this prequel and if and when it will air.

Ten Thousand Ships

Set one thousand years before Game of Thrones, before the Targaryens set foot in Westeros, Nymeria, a Dornish warrior queen, is the focus of this story. When the dragonlords of Valyria defeat her people, she gathers what’s left of them, and they board ten thousand ships and flee Essos. When they arrive in Dorne, she orders the ships to be burnt and forces her people to embrace their new lives, becoming allies with House Martell. According to Martin, Amanda Segel has drafted a few scripts for the first season, confirming the series is in the works. Although there’s no release date yet, scripts are a good sign things are moving forward.

The Hedge Knight

This series prequel is the most requested by all Game of Thrones fans and is based on a series of novels by Martin called Tales of Duk and Egg. Set ninety years before Game of Thrones, the story follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg and how he later becomes known as King Aegon V Targaryen. Due to the characters’ importance to Martin, he is determined to make an accurate rendition of these stories, with the first season being called The Hedge Knight. Although Martin has not fully confirmed the series, we hope to see it soon.

Snow

Snow is not a prequel to Game of Thrones, but a sequel, which has surprised many fans, as no one expected another series to feature Jon Snow. According to Martin, the series sequel was an idea from Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in the original series. Harington brought his idea to the team of writers and show producers, and it may be the series everyone has been anticipating. Much of the information about the series has remained under wraps, but we may get to see venture far North of the wall and see what hidden secrets it has to offer.

Martin has hinted at potential prequels and sequels, but we cannot confirm the other series since only House of the Dragon has been officially announced and filmed.
