Amazon Man in the High Castle Nazi Ads Pulled From NY Subway
The Man in the High Castle Ads Taken Off New York Subway
Ads for Amazon Studios’ The Man in the High Castle that featured Nazi imagery will be dropped from New York’s subway, a source with knowledge close to the situation confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter yesterday. Amazon Studios “had made the decision to pull them on its own,” the source said.
The advertisements featured images of American flags with Nazi insignia and also Japan’s flag in a World War II design plastered across the seats in a car on the 42nd Street shuttle train, to reflect the TV series.
On Monday, the MTA defended the ads despite the outcry from people who use the subways.”The updated standards prohibit political advertisements,” MTA spokesperson Adam Lisberg told Gothamist, which first reported the story. “Unless you’re saying that you believe Amazon is advocating for a Nazi takeover of the United States, then it meets the standards. They’re advertising a show.”
