Preacher and 2000AD Artist Passes Away

2016 has been a particularly awful year for the industry losing great comic creators. Earlier this year we lost Darwyn Cooke and yesterday news reached us that Steve Dillon, the co-creator of Preacher, editor on the UK’s seminal Deadline magazine and one of the nicest people in comics, has died at the age of 54.

This year saw AMC’s small screen adaptation of Ennis and Dillon’s Preacher and his passing even made the Hollywood Reporter and Variety. His brother Glyn Dillon shared the news on Twitter on Saturday

Steve Dillon had a CV that included work for 2000AD on Judge Dredd, Warrior, Hellblazer and Preacher for Vertigo, Punisher and Squadron Supreme for Marvel. We got to interview him for our Studio Space book that Image published back in 2008. He was one of the nicest, most generous people in comics and his loss is a huge one. The last time we saw him was at this year’s London Super Comic Con in February. We send our condolences to his family including his equally talented artist brother Glyn.

Here is a selection of some of his art taken from Hellblazer, Warrior, 2000AD and Preacher
