Star Wars: Identities The Exhibition Reviewed
Forging A New Kind of Intergalactic Identity
♦Tripwire sent editor-in-chief JOEL MEADOWS and Contributing Writer GARY MARSHALL to a galaxy far, far away (actually the O2 in London’s Docklands) to check out the new Star Wars: Identities The Exhibition, which opens to the public today, Friday…
Star Wars: Identities The Exhibition takes a look at the idea of identity in the Star Wars Universe. Interest in the characters has never been greater thanks to Episode VII: The Force Awakens last Christmas and Rogue One, the latest Star Wars movie, which hits cinemas next month, is likely to be almost as huge a box office draw as its recent progenitor.
It breaks the exhibition down into ten sections and at its start, you are given a bracelet so you can choose your identity in the Star Wars universe and an audio guide which is triggered at certain points throughout the space. As you walk through, while exploring the concept of identity, you are greeted by a series of costumes, models and concept art from the movies. Surprisingly, The Force Awakens and Rogue One aren’t represented here but there is still enough to keep the Star Wars aficionado satisfied. The highlight of our visit was probably seeing the spaceship models in one glass case, presented as we had never seen them before. The exhibition is well-lit and well-staged and the choice of concept art detailing the genesis and development of characters like Jabba The Hutt, Luke Skywalker and even Darth Vader helps to enrich the experience. The interactive element is one that will also go down well with kids who are visiting the exhibition. My only criticism is that the reception on the audio guides was a little hit and miss and you would lose audio at certain points in the exhibition.
Here are a few photos we shot from the exhibition and a few shots taken by the organisers themselves
Star Wars: Identities The Exhibition runs from Friday 18 November all the way until 3 September 2017 at the O2 in London. Check out their website for further details
