How The Pair’s Popularity Has Spread Beyond TV
Rick and Morty, the hit American animated sitcom, is fast becoming one of the most popular and best-loved TV shows on the planet. So far, there have been five hit series, comprising of fifty-one episodes in total. And, like other hit animated sitcoms such as Family Guy, Rick and Morty’s reach is now spreading beyond TV…
If you’re not up to speed with Rick and Morty, it’s basically a show about Rick Sanchez, who is a mad scientist and his grandson Morty Smith. It’s a concept that sees the lovable duo embark on adventures in outer space, bringing in the sci-fi angle while living out their lives domestically on planet earth too.
You could say that Rick and Morty concept has been on a massive journey, as it did begin life as a parody of Back to the Future. From there, Rick and Morty, as everyone knows and loves, became a thing. And, its popularity snowballed, as shown by the thirst for new episodes in the gap between series’.
Luckily, because of how well-received Rick and Morty has been, it’s managed to infiltrate and impact other areas of media and entertainment. For example, there have been multiple comic book releases since 2015. And there has been a raft of video games and table games, too. So they’re ideal propositions to fill the gaps between series and episodes.
And, speaking of games. Yes, there are video games and the like that use Rick and Morty as inspiration. For now, it is likely going to be season six and season seven of the how that will come first, with the former ready to go and the latter at the writing stage. Many expect season six to land in the summer of this year, which could mean series seven will follow a year later if the current schedule is anything to go by. It presents the opportunity for a Ricky and Morty movie, which really would see the duo take over the world, coming to the fore in 2023 or 2024.
