Our friends at sciencefiction.com have got the lowdown on the comics based on the forthcoming Independence Day sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence from Titan…

We’ve known that there would be a comic to lead into ‘Independence Day: Resurgence‘ and Titan Comics has shared a little about what the comic would be about as well as the style of artwork we have to look forward to. While the movie will take place 20 years after the first film, this comic will actually be shortly after the events which we’ve already seen in the first film. With Steve Scott (Batman, X-Men Forever) illustrating the book and Victor Gischler (X-Men: Curse of the Mutants, Deadpool Corps) behind the writing, we have some solid talent putting this story together. The new film will have Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson as the director of a new global defence force which is dedicated to fending off any future alien attacks. This will be a world still scarred by the ravages of war and we’re unsure exactly how much humanity has started working together to not only defend the world but repair it.The first issue drops on 2 March 2016, and the synopsis reads as follows:As our world unites against invaders from beyond the stars, beneath the Atlantic Ocean, another mysterious craft prompts a top-secret investigation by the US military, one which could prove the key to humanity’s survival… or its ultimate destruction.Obviously, there is no word if this is an alien craft, part of the invasion, or something cooked up by a branch of the military. You can check out the first issue covers below.
