Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy Begins Shooting
Under Their Umbrella
♦ Netflix’s adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s The Umbrella Academy has just begun shooting and to commemorate this, Way and Ba just stuck a photo up this week from the shoot…

CBR had some more info on it: Bá took to his Facebook page to show him and Way, also an executive producer on the project, with the clapperboard, openly chuffed that their Dark Horse Comics story is coming to life. The image, which didn’t highlight anything other than the two creators on set in Toronto, reads: ” Lights! Camera! ACTION! This has officially begun! #UmbrellaAcademy #firstday #Netflix #UCP #DarkHorse #wondertwinsumbrellaadventure.”
The live-action series, based on the duo’s Eisner award-winning tale, will follow a dysfunctional family of superheroes called the Umbrella Academy as they solve their father Reginald Hardgraves’ mysterious death, all while coming apart at the seams because of their wildly different personalities and superhuman powers.
Recently, casting updates saw Tom Hopper unveiled as Luther (the leader with super-strength), Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison (a beauty with the power of suggestion), David Castañeda as Diego (a skilled vigilante), Robert Sheehan as Klaus (a drug-addicted wildcard) and Aidan Gallagher as Number Five (an old genius trapped in a young boy’s body). They will join Ellen Page as loner Vanya, the only sibling who seemingly possesses no superpowers.
Debuting this year, The Umbrella Academy is a production of Netflix adapted by Jeremy Slater.
