Almost Funded But Show Your Support For A Unique Comic Artist’s Body Of Work

The comic book world lost Norm Breyfogle in 2018. He was far too young. His decades-long run on the bat titles are arguably some of the most impactful and important ever drawn for the iconic character. Most of Norm’s work has been well documented in collections from DC. But the comic book community now has a new chance to see his largest body of work outside of major publishers, Of Bitter Souls…

In 2006-2009, Norm was the illustrator for a series set in New Orleans, Louisana. Of Bitter Souls ran for nine issues at two publishers and spawned two trade paperbacks. Of Bitter Souls was created & written by Chuck Satterlee (KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND, THIRTEEN STEPS, SMOKE & MIRROR) Norm was the only illustrator for all 198 pages of complete storyline.
All of the work has now been collected into a 400 page, hard cover omnibus and will come with a slipcase and sewn-in ribbon bookmark. (LINK: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/monstersandmidways/of-bitter-souls-400-page-omnibus-drawn-by-norm-breyfogle?ref=user_menu) All of the story, all of Norm’s hundreds of sketches, all scripts will be in the omnibus. The book will also contain over 30 guest pin-ups and short stories from creators such as Brian Augustyn, Dick Giordano, Freddie Williams, Mike Oeming, Szymon Kudranski, Ryan Stegman, Inaki Miranda & more.
With a plethora of prints, a digital edition and even a retailer option, this Kickstarter launched on April 11 and is running for 30 days.
This collection of the largest body of work ever drawn by Norm outside of DC or Malibu will only be available in hard cover form through this kickstarter.
Said Satterlee of the project, “I am honored and excited to bring comic book fans a large body of this legendary artist’s work, with Norm no longer with us… it became important to me to get this book out there. Norm and I were always proud of this title.”
A Kickstarter companion website is up and running and includes contact information as well as the entire first issue. Visit  www.ofbittersouls.com  for further information and art.
