Scott Hampton, an artist with a long career in comics, is funding a new art of book on kickstarter and here’s a few details…

Welcome to my art book! I want to offer brand new readers and those who’ve kept up with me since the eighties an overview that includes published work (including some pages showing the process from rough to finish), art intended for publication but didn’t see the light of day, commissions, and personal work running the gamut from sketches to oil paintings.

Collaborating with amazing talents like Archie Goodwin, P. Craig Russell, Neil Gaiman, Steve Niles, Mike Mignola, Jimmy Palmiotti, Bruce Jones, April Campbell— the list goes on and on — has been a big part of the joy of my career. Currently, I’m thrilled to be working with the great Gregory Maguire! I’m adapting his Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West as a graphic novel in two big books. Wicked the graphic novel part one is due to be released from Harper Collins in March! The second book will again trail Wicked the movie by a couple of months in 2026.

Something Wicked: Art of Scott Hampton will be 150 pages (give or take), hardcover, and — should it get funded — will arrive on backers’ doorsteps by June. In addition to the basic reward tiers, there are a number of add-ons to choose from, including original art, remarques, and acknowledgment in the book!
