A New Comic Sci-Fi Epic Is Coming

Over at Tripwire we have always been keen to support comics crowdfunding campaigns and The Spirit Tracers is a new UK comic series funding on kickstarter so here’s a few details and how people can support it…

Story

Welcome to: The Spirit Tracers

Out beyond the Yellow and Blue galaxies on the edge of space, lies an area called the Outer Extremity: a densely populated region where bad energy thrives. Every dark idea or action finds its way here.

This entire mass has plans to expand its tentacles of form across the whole of the Crystal Star System and to weaken it by formulating a triangle of terror by infecting two individuals named Tetra and Rafflesia to initially help with the dirty work.

Our epic story begins at Crystal City where an impending disaster is a hair’s breadth away from causing havoc. For a chosen few there is a slight glimmer of hope, below ground, where a motorised crystal pod is waiting to hopefully whisk some of them away to a safer haven.

As the story progresses, we find that fate has an unusual way of playing out and calling the shots. There is a magical realm where spirit tracing exists and contact is made with unborn youngsters who travel to this special place, where they are trained, some of whom become guardian angels who help good energy to thrive around a planet’s force field, acting as a grid of light.

Their main role is to stop the fallen angel’s work of the Hellish Root Triangle, which intends to weaken a planet’s outer sphere and then wipe out several of them, as they feel the universe is too cluttered. Having already annihilated planet Touros in another part of the galaxy, they have planet Gaia on their radar next, which promotes very strong energy.

Issue #1 Cover Art by Graham Humphreys

Internationally Known for his amazing work on movie posters, Graham Humphreys has painted an amazing cover for our first pilot issue #1, which we know you’ll love when you see it in print. If you are a fan of Graham’s then you’ll be pleased to know that his cover will also be featured as a chrome cover too and both in Trade Dress (with Logos) and a virgin cover edition too. Watch out for those stretch goals too!!

Character Designer and Cover B Artist – Alex Owens

Already with a plethora of cover art for some of the best-known US-based comic book publishers, Alex is our lead character and concept artist adding his prowess, and has provided cover art for our Cover B, and a VERY special METAL Cover that we will be showcasing very soon!

Alex is also creating a cover for a very rare and super low print run of a Metal Cover that we will produce just for this campaign and with a print run of no more than 25!

This metal cover looks stunning and features one of our villains. You can also add this cover as an “add-on”. “Add-on” Prices will be released midway through our campaign!

Interior Artwork and Colours By Ario Murti

We are excited to share with you our interior artist, Ario Murti, providing some jaw-dropping sequential pages for our series.

Based in Indonesia, Ario is not only providing interior art but also colours and some covers too. We think that Ario will be a major force in the comic book world very soon, and we are so pleased that he’s joined us on The Spirit Tracers. Check out his art below!

Stretch Goals and Add-Ons! Lots Planned!

As time goes on with our 60-day campaign, we’ll be adding lots of stretch goals including Design Variants and Chrome covers. So keep popping back and we’ll keep you posted on the new additions to The Spirit Tracers’ catalog of cool covers!

About the Creator – Mark Hutchinson

Like many people, comics have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Those UK versions of Spider-Man, The Avengers, Captain Britain, and of course Star Wars whet my appetite to escape into those amazing Marvel worlds. I also loved the Disney comics like ‘Donald and Mickey’ and even ‘Disneyland.’ They have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I think it’s in my DNA!

My project has been bubbling for an incredible 13+ years now and was written as a trilogy /book series initially. I have even broadcast some snippets of the story on my online music show ‘Musicana’playing them as ‘mini radio dramas’ which went down very well.

Over the last few years, I have visited the Disney Expo in Anaheim, CA where I met some truly great filmmakers and storytellers who gave wonderful advice on stories. I would like to think that some of those meetings have helped me in my ‘creative bubble.’ So, why a comic book? 

After chatting with my local comic shop, they said that The Spirit Tracers would make a great comic book series, and lends itself perfectly to that format. Whizz forward to just over a year later and here we are setting off on this amazing adventure and with some wonderfully talented people at my side.

If you like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or the original Superman Movie, I think you will love The Spirit Tracers.
