Sucked Into A Web Of Vice
STARZPLAY, the international premium streaming service from STARZ, released today the suspenseful trailer for buzzworthy series “Tokyo Vice”, which premieres exclusively on the platform in Ireland and the UK on Sunday 15 May. The first two episodes will be available at launch, with new episodes airing every Sunday…
From Endeavor Content, “Tokyo Vice” is loosely inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s non-fiction first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat. Filmed on location in Tokyo, the series captures Adelstein’s (Ansel Elgort) daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo in the late ‘90s, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem.In addition to Golden Globe nominee Elgort (West Side Story, Baby Driver), “Tokyo Vice” also stars Academy Award nominee Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, Inception, Batman Begins), Academy Award nominee Rinko Kikuchi (Babel), Rachel Keller (“Fargo”, “Legion”) Ella Rumpf (“Succession,” “Freud”), Hideaki Itô (“Umizaru”), Show Kasamatsu and Tomohisa Yamashita (Code Blue: The Movie, “The Head”).
Tony Award-winning playwright J.T. Rogers created and wrote the series and also serves as executive producer. Four-time Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Michael Mann directed the pilot and is an executive producer along with Emmy winner Alan Poul, Adelstein, Elgort, Emmy winner Emily Gerson Saines, Brad Kane, Destin Daniel Cretton, (Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings), Watanabe, Kayo Washio, and Academy Award winner John Lesher (Birdman).
STARZPLAY subscribers have access to an exclusive line-up of premium programming, including STARZ Original series the same day they launch in the U.S. Slate highlights feature the time-travel romance series “Outlander,” the explosive “Power” Universe from Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson; dark comedy “Shining Vale” with Courteney Cox; and “Gaslit,” the highly anticipated, modern take on America’s Watergate scandal, starring Academy Award winners Julia Roberts and Sean Penn. Acquired standout series include “Godfather of Harlem,” the story of infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson, starring Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker; the genre-bending period dramedy “The Great” starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult and the post-apocalyptic limited series “Station Eleven,” based on the best-selling novel of the same name; plus a blockbuster movie library featuring thousands of hours of entertainment viewing.
