♦Yesterday, Paramount issued a trailer celebrating 50 years of Star Trek on the big screen and we thought that everyone might enjoy seeing it…

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, Paramount released a gorgeous trailer taken just from the franchise’s feature films. The original series, which premiered on 8 September 1966, is a veritable pop culture phenomenon that has spawned a cartoon series, five additional live action series and 13 feature films.

The trailer sticks to the 13 movies, intercutting footage from the films based on Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation with clips from the three rebooted films directed by J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin. This year saw Star Trek Beyond and next year will see Star Trek Discovery, a new TV series from CBS. It seems that, fifty years on, the concepts from Star Trek are as popular as ever.
